A reverse call is a service that allows a phone user to make a call with or without airtime and the receiver of the call pays on the caller’s behalf.
To make the call, you have to dial a specific code, depending on your network provider, just before the recipient’s number. When the recipient receives the call, a voice message will inform them that this is a reverse call and if they wish to go ahead, then they need to press a specific button.
Now that you have understood how this works, here are guides for making these calls on Safaricom and Telkom.
How to make a reverse call on Safaricom
All Safaricom subscribers are eligible to make a reverse call. When the person receiving answers the call, they will get an announcement requesting them to either accept or decline by pressing 1 to accept or 2 to decline.
Once they accept, the call will be charged at normal rates. It’s also only available to subscribers within the Safaricom network. To make a reverse call on Safaricom, dial # followed by the number you wish to call.
However, reverse calls don’t apply when you are making international calls or roaming. If the receiver declines the call or doesn’t have airtime, the call will also be unsuccessful.

Once your account has been created successfully, you will be able to make reverse calls. To make a reverse call on Telkom, dial 128 followed by the number you wish to call. The cost of the call will be equivalent to the receiver’s normal call cost.
Conclusion
Now that’s how you get to make a reverse call on either Safaricom or Telkom. If you are low on credit but you need to communicate something to someone, give them a call using the methods provided above.
