Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions students can now be beneficiaries of HELB loans previously a preserve of the University students. TVET students first received these loans in 2016, but are not as popular in these institutions as in universities. That notwithstanding, a growing number of TVET students continue benefiting from the lender. Here is how to apply for the loan.
Requirements
- Ensure you have a calling letter from your TVET or you are a continuing student.
- You are a direct entry self-sponsored student
How to apply
- Go to helb.co.ke to register and create an account.
- Log into your account.
- Select the relevant academic year TVET Loan Application Form (LAF).
- Download and print two copies of the TVET LAF forms.
- Complete the form with accurate information. Ensure the parts that require signature and stamps form guarantors and public officers; oathing officers etc. are dully field and complied with.
- Attach supporting documents to your duly completed forms
- Keep one copy and present the form to your nearest Huduma Center. You can mail them to HELB. Alternatively; you can drop them off to HELB offices at anniversary towers mezzanine floor 1.
If you have submitted your TVET loan application, ensure that you keep checking your student portal for any disbursement. In case you fail to get a loan, you can always appeal to the lender. Ensure you are up to speed on the various deadlines by the lender. You can easily access information about deadlines on the official HELB website or local dailies.
