How to deactivate M-Pesa account

The different people who are keen on how to close M-Pesa account might have toyed with the idea of stopping using a SIM card and letting it go dormant.

However, this is not deactivation perse since you can still reactivate the SIM card easily and gain access to the M-Pesa account again.

If you want immediate closure and would not want to let your SIM sit dormant until Safaricom replaces it, you will have to submit a written request (mostly fill a form) at your nearest customer care or retail office. Your request will be forwarded to the head office and acted upon accordingly as long as you do not have any Mshwari, Fuliza or KCB M-Pesa loans.
